About tarpp
What is tarpp?
tarpp is an iPhone app with a Safari extension. When you're about to buy something in Safari, it steps in and shows what that money could grow to in 10 and 20 years, so you can choose to invest it instead.
Choose Invest instead and tarpp opens your own brokerage's website and records the choice as a redirect. Choose Buy anyway and you carry on with your purchase. The app shows your redirects against a yearly goal, along with your portfolio and deposits if you link an investment account.
What's a redirect?
A redirect is what tarpp calls it when you skip a purchase and choose Invest instead, and tarpp logs each one. It records your choice, not a transfer: tarpp never moves money, so anything you invest, you put in yourself at your brokerage.
Does tarpp hold or move my money?
No. tarpp never holds, moves or invests your money, and it can't. Invest instead opens your own investment account's website, where any deposit or investment is yours to make.
A redirect in tarpp records that you chose not to buy something, not that money moved. Deposits you see in the app come from your brokerage through Plaid.
Is tarpp financial advice?
No. tarpp isn't a financial advisor, broker or bank, and nothing in it is investment advice. The projections assume a 10% average annual return (the S&P 500's historical average). They aren't guaranteed, and investing involves risk.
Which devices does tarpp work on?
iPhone only for now, with iOS 26.5 or later. The extension works in Safari on iPhone, not in other browsers.
Linking accounts
How do my accounts connect?
Through Plaid, a service many finance apps use to connect to banks and brokerages. You sign in to your brokerage in Plaid's own screens, so tarpp never sees your username or password.
The connection is read-only. tarpp keeps your investment accounts' names, the last four digits of their numbers, their balances and the deposits into them. It can't trade, transfer or change anything.
Do I have to link an account?
No. The Safari extension, your yearly goal, Activity and Insights all work without one. Linking adds your portfolio's value and your deposits. Invest instead needs a linked brokerage, since that's where it sends you.
How often do balances and deposits update?
Plaid updates investment accounts about once a day, so a new deposit can take a day or two to appear. Pull down on Home to check again.
Does tarpp see my bank or card transactions?
No. tarpp only links investment accounts, and only reads their balances and the cash deposited into them.
Privacy and security
Is my data safe?
Your data is stored under your account, so it comes back when you sign in on another iPhone. Access is limited to your own account, and your brokerage connection's access key stays on our server, where the app itself can't read it.
What's stored: your name, your goal, and for each choice you make in Safari the product's name, price, picture, the store's name and when. Never the page's address. From a linked account: its name, last four digits, balances and deposits.
On your iPhone you can hide balances with one tap and lock the app with Face ID. There are no ads and no third-party analytics. See the Privacy Policy for the details.
How does the Safari extension work, and what can it see?
Once you turn it on (in the app, Settings › Safari extension › Open Settings), it runs on the websites you allow in Safari's settings. On a product page it reads the product's name, price and picture, and when you tap a buy button such as Add to Cart or Buy Now, it shows its sheet. You choose the minimum price it steps in for, from $0 to $100 ($25 to start).
It saves something only when you choose in its sheet: Invest instead or Buy anyway. Then it saves the product's name, price, picture, the store's name and the time on your iPhone, and the app saves that to your account. It doesn't record the pages you visit, and the extension itself never talks to tarpp's servers.
With Pro's Remind me later, the product page's address is kept with the reminder, on your iPhone only, so the notification can take you back to it.
Does tarpp sell my data or show ads?
No. tarpp has no ads and doesn't sell your data.
Pricing and subscriptions
How much does tarpp cost?
tarpp is free to use. Free includes the Safari extension, your yearly goal, Activity, Insights and one linked investment connection.
Pro is $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year (US prices). It adds up to three linked connections, Remind me later on the Safari sheet, and deeper Insights: your redirects over time, what they could be worth, your top stores, when you're most tempted and how your choices are trending.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, 7 days free on either plan, once per Apple Account. If you have notifications on, tarpp reminds you 2 days before your trial ends. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the subscription starts automatically.
How do I cancel Pro?
Pro is billed through your Apple Account, so Apple handles cancelling:
- On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, or
- in tarpp, go to Settings › Plan › Manage subscription.
You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple.
Your account
How do I delete my account?
In tarpp, go to Settings › Data › Delete account. It removes your account and everything saved to it, on every iPhone, and removes your linked accounts' connections at Plaid along with their history. It can't be undone.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a Pro subscription; cancel that in your Apple Account first.
Can I get a copy of my data?
Yes. Settings › Data › Export my data gives you your redirects and deposits as a spreadsheet (CSV).
